Transplant Hepatology

At SWBMG, our transplant hepatologists are specialists in managing end-stage liver disease (ESLD), conducting liver transplant evaluations, and providing care following liver transplants. We offer a broad range of services designed to support patients with liver diseases, particularly those who are candidates for or have received a liver transplant. These services include:

Transplant Surgery

At SWBMG, our transplant surgery team is committed to providing the best medical and surgical care for transplant and complex GI patients.

Our surgeons have each completed training in general surgery or urologic surgery, as well as fellowship training in transplant or hepatobiliary surgery.
We are a world class kidney transplant program that performed our first transplant in 1969. Today we perform over 200 transplants per year with a focus on patient-centered care and living kidney donation with an emphasis on kidney paired donation.

Our dedicated team is composed of transplant surgeons, transplant nephrologists, nurses, physicians assistants, social workers, financial advisors, medical assistants and staff. Together, we manage patient care in the evaluation phase, during their hospital stay, and for the life of their transplants.

Our team is available 24/7 to best serve the needs of our patients and their referring doctors. We strive to create a supportive environment to address all of our patients’ needs through their transplant journey.

Transplant Nephrology

The transplant nephrology team at SWBMG is proud to support one of the largest and most successful non-academic kidney transplant programs in the United States. California Pacific Medical Center’s kidney transplant program has a long history of excellence, having performed over 6,700 kidney transplants to date, with an average of 220 transplants each year.

Our team provides comprehensive care throughout the transplant journey, beginning with thorough pre-transplant evaluations to ensure patients are medically ready for the procedure. After the transplant, we offer complete post-transplant care, focusing on long-term kidney health, immune system management, and recovery. Our inpatient service is well-equipped to care for newly transplanted patients, as well as those needing consultative care for heart and liver disease in conjunction with kidney disease, whether acute or chronic.

We serve a large geographic area, with an extensive outreach program covering Northern California and Nevada, ensuring more patients have access to the lifesaving benefits of kidney transplantation. Hospital Medicine

SWBMG hospitalists primarily care for complex, high-acuity tertiary and quaternary care patients from a diverse population across Northern California and beyond. Unique services offered by SWBMG hospitalists that set them apart from traditional hospitalist groups include triage & pre-transfer care advising to community hospital providers, chart review of complex referral patients, follow up care for intricate procedural patients.
