The Cardiology team at SWBMG offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for all cardiovascular conditions. We specialize in managing patients with advanced and complex cardiovascular conditions and offer a multidisciplinary team approach individualized for each patient.

Our practice locations include ambulatory clinics and inpatient services at all CPMC campuses. The spectrum of services we support include:

• Evaluation and treatment of the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease
• advanced imaging and testing with extensive cardiovascular lab services including echocardiography, stress testing, myocardial perfusion stress testing, stress echocardiography, cardiac monitoring, and Cardiac CT including CT angiography, Coronary calcium scanning, and Cardiac structural CT imaging.
• Inpatient treatment and consultation of patients with complex and acute cardiovascular disease
• Coordinated multidisciplinary care with subspecialist physicians in cardiothoracic surgery, electrophysiology, structural heart, advanced heart failure, pulmonary & critical care, nephrology, transplant, nutritionists, and social workers.

Interventional Cardiology

The Cardiovascular team at SWBMG includes highly experienced interventional cardiologists who are dedicated to high quality treatment and offering complex procedures to offer the best outcomes for our patients.

Our services include evaluation and treatment for advanced cardiovascular conditions such as valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and cardiogenic shock.

We have developed and implemented protocols using a multidisciplinary and evidence-based approach that identifies best practices and emphasizes improved outcomes, such as our cardiogenic shock protocol and treatment pathways for complex and high-risk PCI, coronary calcification, transradial cardiac catheterization and same day discharge after PCI. We offer a regional referral service for comprehensive treatment of the common and growing problem of in-stent restenosis (ISR). Our practice is one of only three sites on the West Coast to offer intravascular brachytherapy for treatment of ISR.

We offer a full array of inpatient procedures including cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention and angioplasty, and mechanical circulatory support.

Electrophysiology

Our electrophysiology program is recognized regionally and nationally for its experts in AF and VT ablation. We are a team of dedicated cardiac electrophysiologists specializing in diagnosis, management, and treatment of the most complex cardiac arrhythmias. We provide state of the art arrhythmia care and advance the field of electrophysiology through research and education of tomorrow’s cardiologists.

We employ a multidisciplinary and evidence-based approach, including protocols developed through process improvement such as our complex VT ablation program and our Hybrid AF ablation program. We collaborate with our referring cardiologists as well as our structural heart, advanced heart failure, and surgical colleagues to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care for the complex cardiac issues.

We participate in the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) for AF ablation. Ongoing research includes investigator-initiated trials and enrollment in seminal national multicenter randomized controlled trials, including Admire, Tactiflex, Facile VT, Advent, Option, and Persistent.

Our practice locations include ambulatory clinics and inpatient services at all CPMC campuses. Additionally, we offer outreach clinics and services in Santa Rosa and Napa.

Interventional Echocardiography

Interventional echocardiography plays a vital role in diagnosing and treating various heart conditions. By utilizing advanced imaging alongside minimally invasive methods, our physicians can perform procedures that enhance heart function, repair or replace valves, close defects, and manage arrhythmias—reducing the need for open surgery. Through real-time imaging, SWBMG’s team of interventional echocardiographers delivers accurate, safe, and effective care, improving patient outcomes, shortening recovery times, and ultimately enhancing both cardiac health and overall physical and emotional wellness. We offer a wide array of services, such as:

• Transcatheter valve interventions
• Guiding catheter-based procedures

• Aortic aneurysm repair
• Post procedure monitoring and assessment

Structural Heart Interventional

Structural heart disease is a subspecialty that focuses on the catheter-based treatment of heart valve problems.

Our structural heart physicians are nationally recognized thought leaders in the field of structural heart disease and offer the entire spectrum of FDA approved therapies and technology still in clinical research for patients with heart valve problems.

The team is built around our structural interventional cardiologists and includes collaboration with cardiac surgeons, advanced cardiac imaging, electrophysiologists, and advanced heart failure cardiologists. Patients are evaluated in a multi-disciplinary valve clinic.

We offer the entire spectrum of therapies for catheter-based treatment of heart valve disease. Through our participation in numerous research trials, we are able to offer minimally-invasive therapies, otherwise unavailable to patients. This includes treatment for aortic stenosis and regurgitation, mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation with transcatheter mitral valve replacement and repair.

Our practice locations include ambulatory clinics and inpatient services across the Bay Area. We treat patients from local communities as well as regional referrals from Northern California and surrounding states. Additionally, our physicians have been teaching structural heart therapies to other physicians across the United States and internationally.
