Dermatology

The Department of Dermatology & Skin Surgery is a comprehensive medical and surgical dermatology practice treating a wide variety of skin conditions in the adult, pediatric and geriatric population. We have a busy outpatient practice that offers expertise in medical dermatology, skin cancer diagnosis and management, as well as cosmetic dermatology, in close cooperation with our plastic surgery colleagues.

Our dermatologists provide full scope outpatient dermatology services including:

• Cancer screening
• Skin surveys
• Diagnosis and treatment of all primary skin conditions
• Diagnosis and treatment of dermatoses related to underlying acute or chronic medical illness
• Cosmetic evaluations and in-office cosmetic procedures

Endocrinology

The SWBMG Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism specialists offer personalized care and consultative services for patients with endocrine disorders. Additionally, our board-certified and fellowship-trained endocrinologists offer consultative care for hospitalized patients with acute endocrinology needs, while proudly serving as faculty for an ACGME certified Endocrinology Fellowship.

The spectrum of services our physicians provide include:
• A comprehensive multidisciplinary Diabetes Clinic providing state of the art management of Diabetes Mellitus 1 and 2 in conjunction with a strong team of certified diabetes educators
• Evaluation and treatment of thyroid conditions including thyroid cancer, thyroid nodules and hyperthyroidism
• A Weight Management and Metabolic Center with in-clinic access to a registered dietitian
• A Metabolic Bone Disease and Calcium Disorders Clinic
• In office ultrasound and fine needle aspirate of thyroid nodules
• Treatment of other general endocrinology disorders such as adrenal disease, pituitary disease, amenorrhea and PCOS
• Consultative support for hospitalized patients with acute endocrine disorders

Medical Oncology

Our team of medical oncologists and their staff provides personalized, multi-disciplinary care to our patients with a wide variety of hematologic and oncologic diagnosis. We provide boutique patient care with a very patient centered, high touch approach and proudly achieve better outcomes compared to national benchmarks with an excellent depth of subspecialties including breast, plastic, hepatobiliary, colorectal, thoracic and neurosurgery. We also have support from subspecialty providers in pathology, radiation oncology, palliative care, cancer genetics, nutrition, mental health, physical and occupational therapy among others.

The spectrum of services we support include:
• Evaluation and treatment of a wide range of cancer diagnoses.
• High risk cancer surveillance clinic – including individualized risk assessment, genetic testing, imaging surveillance plan, diet/lifestyle counseling for risk reduction.
• Clinical exams
• Treatment with a variety of anticancer systemic therapies including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy.
• Treatment with a variety of hematologic agents including red and white blood cell boosters, iron infusions, phlebotomy, immunomodulatory agents, targeted therapies.
• Participation in local and national clinical trials to help bring new testing and treatment options to our patients before they are widely available.
• Coordinated multidisciplinary care with subspecialist physicians in surgery, radiation oncology, pathology as well as surveillance nurses, genetic counselors, nutritionists, social workers.

Interventional Radiology

Many conditions that once required traditional surgery can now be addressed through interventional radiology. Our team of board-certified interventional radiologists is at the forefront of this innovative field, utilizing advanced imaging technologies to guide catheters to the targeted treatment area, enabling minimally invasive procedures. Using techniques like X-rays and other imaging methods, we perform precise procedures that treat a wide variety of health issues with minimal disruption to the body.

We specialize in vascular interventions, including stent placement to restore blood flow in blocked arteries and embolization to close off abnormal blood vessels. Interventional radiology is also an effective treatment for conditions such as kidney cancer, liver cancer, uterine fibroids, and more. Some of the services we provide include:

• Radiofrequency Ablation
• Embolization

Palliative Care

The SWBMG Palliative Medicine team provides comprehensive, high-touch support for hospitalized patients and their families across all CPMC campuses, offering complex medical education, aggressive symptom management, and coordination of care, including complex discharges. Our board-certified, fellowship-trained physicians specialize in quaternary care and collaborate closely with other specialties to ensure optimal care. Additionally, the team offers outpatient clinic support embedded within the SWBMG Department of Oncology and Advanced Organ Therapies, helping manage palliative care needs for patients with serious illnesses.

Our physicians are also active in education, serving as faculty for Internal Medicine Residency and Oncology Fellowship palliative medicine rotations, while contributing to hospital and ethics committees, research, philanthropy, and quality improvement initiatives. The department is highly regarded by clinical staff, hospital teams, and administrative partners for its expertise and collaborative approach. Since 2016, we have operated a philanthropically supported outpatient clinic within the SWBMG Oncology clinic, which has grown to see about 100 unique patients annually. Our commitment to providing time-intensive, compassionate care extends beyond clinical services, ensuring the highest level of support for patients and families.
