Gynecology

The Gynecology team at SWBMG provides a range of gynecologic outpatient and inpatient services for women in San Francisco. This includes routine cervical cancer screening, breast exams, contraceptive care, menopausal management, hysteroscopy, ablations and dilation, and curettage. For complex surgical cases, we collaborate with our urogynecology and gynecology-oncology colleagues, conveniently located within the same medical office. We are also actively engaged with and supportive of LGBTQ health. We are inclusive of all non-binary, gender diverse persons and their reproductive and gynecologic concerns, and we provide medical and surgical pelvic health care to support gender affirmation.

Our providers are spearheading leading edge technology within gynecologic surgery as members of the Center of Excellence of Gynecologic Surgery at CPMC. Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery is a newly recognized specialty that uses fiber optic video cameras to perform gynecologic surgery with very small skin incisions in contrast to large abdominal incisions. This specialty is also used in the removal of ovarian cysts and fibroids, to perform hysterectomies, and for sterilization procedures. In addition, we perform radiofrequency ablation of uterine fibroids with the Acessa system as an alternative surgical treatment of uterine fibroids.

Obstetrics

Our physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives collaborate to provide high-quality, integrated, personalized care for all types of pregnancy journeys and birth experiences ranging from low-risk to high-risk.

We are a central referral for surrounding hospitals for high-risk transfers and we work collaboratively with our Maternal Fetal Medicine colleagues to provide seamless cohesive care to our patients. Our general practice is for patients with routine to high-risk pregnancies who are seeking prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care from a physician. We offer low-intervention care for patients with low-risk, routine pregnancies who seek a “low tech, high touch” prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum experience. We also offer high-risk maternal transport for patients with high-risk pregnancy that are transported to CPMC for labor and delivery and postpartum inpatient care.

Maternal Fetal Medicine

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine team at SWBMG specializes in providing advanced care for high-risk pregnancies, with a focus on prenatal genetic diagnosis, including genetic counseling, CVS, amniocentesis, and obstetric ultrasound. We offer high-risk inpatient and outpatient obstetric consultations and provide expert care in areas such as managing conditions like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and fetal growth issues. Our specialists also perform advanced fetal monitoring and diagnostics, including:

• Ultrasounds and fetal heart rate monitoring
• Preconception counseling for women with medical conditions like heart disease or autoimmune disorders.

By combining expert care and the latest diagnostic techniques, our goal is to improve outcomes and support women throughout their pregnancies.

We also have outreach clinical offices in Santa Rosa, Novato, Oakland, and Burlingame. For high-risk obstetric consults, we provide 24/7 on-call Maternal-Fetal Medicine services.

Urogynecology

The SWBMG Urogynecology and Minimally Invasive GYN Surgery programs provide comprehensive care facilitated by a collaborative relationship between patient and physician. Together, they arrive at the right treatment decision via individual counseling, access to specialty consultations, and careful consideration of appropriate options. Treatment plans are offered such as:

• Diagnostics including urodynamics and cystoscopy botox injections to treat urge incontinence
• Robotic fibroid surgery
